As a Seller

You can donate all or part of the selling price of an item on eBay for benefit of VHL. Choose VHL Family Alliance from the list of authorized charities, and determine the percentage of the selling price you wish to donate.

As a Buyer

You can look for items being sold to benefit VHLFA, and support us by buying those items. Check http://pages.ebay.com/givingworks

The eBay site offers an extensive help system for buying and selling on eBay. eBay Help includes information on the Giving Works program, both from the perspective of a seller and from that of a buyer.

How much of my donation does the nonprofit get?

We want the nonprofit to get as much of every donation as possible. When an eBay seller makes a donation from an eBay Giving Works listing, MissionFish collects a $3 fee from the donation to support our operations, and an additional 2.9% fee that pays the bank to process the seller's credit card.

For a $100 donation, the nonprofit will receive $94.10 (94%). For the minimum $10 donation, a nonprofit will receive $6.71 (67%).

When a seller donates 100% of the final sale price of an eBay Giving Works listing, and that item sells, eBay donates their insertion and final value fees to the benefiting nonprofit. eBay donates fees for "100% listings" sold in every format available through MissionFish, whether they're sold by community sellers or nonprofit direct sellers.

Who is MissionFish and what kind of relationship do they have with eBay?

eBay selected MissionFish, a licensed nonprofit service of the Points of Light Foundation, to serve as the dedicated solution provider for eBay Giving Works. MissionFish's valuable service and support includes: powering the nonprofit directory for eBay Giving Works; verifying that nonprofits are eligible for this program; collecting and disbursing sellers' donations; providing sellers with tax receipts; and tracking sellers' donations online.

eBay Giving Works is the dedicated program for charity listings on eBay. eBay Giving Works items are marked with a charity ribbon and contain the giving bar which help make them stand out from other eBay items. The Giving Works team helps promote charity listings on eBay and encourages eBay sellers to donate some or all of their proceeds through eBay Giving Works.
