A Regional Meeting of the VHL
Family Alliance will be held Saturday, November 20, 2004, 10 am - 3 pm.
Registration includes lunch.
The meeting will be held in
the Parish Hall at St. John's Episcopal Church, Memphis, Tennessee. The
Parish Hall is the long brick building on Greer Street, next to the Church
building.

Presenters will include:
Dr. Jose Claudio Rocha,
a fellow at St. Jude's Hospital, on leave from his post as geneticist
at the Ludwig Institute, Sao Paolo, Brazil. Dr. Rocha will share his fascinating
experiences with VHL research in Brazil and Memphis, research which is
expected to lead to better methods of therapy and prevention.
Selvi Palaniappan,
M.S., genetic counselor from our new Clinical Care Center at
Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, will be on hand to talk
about genetic counseling and DNA testing.
Dr. Chris Friedrich, University
of Mississippi Medical Center, Jackson, and a colleague from University of Arkansas Medical Center, Little Rock,
will talk about coordinating care at their Centers.
Joyce
W. Graff, Executive Director of the VHL
Family Alliance, will be available to talk about the Alliance, new news
in VHL research, and news from our global affiliates, especially Japan
and China which she visited in May and June.
The Program will include VHL
Mid-South Connections, with Terry and Rick Murphy, and lots of others
-- an opportunity for us just plain folks to share experiences and stories.
Thanks to a generous donation from one of our members, expenses for this
meeting are subsidized and registration is very inexpensive. Please come!
