The 2005 Annual Meeting of the VHL Family Alliance will be held Saturday, June 25, 2005, 10 am - 4 pm, in the Crystal Room of the Union League Club in downtown Chicago. Registration includes lunch.

Attendees are responsible for making their own hotel arrangements if desired. A block of rooms is being held for the VHL Family Alliance meeting at a rate of $100 per night, which is an excellent rate for Chicago. You may wish to plan some extra time in this exciting city.

Call the Union League Club at 312-427-7800 to make reservations. Rooms must be booked before May 25 to qualify for this conference rate. There are other hotels nearby if the ULC is booked.

There will be a number of presentations on medical and support topics, and plenty of time for us to share experiences and answer questions.

New Board members will be elected at this meeting. Most of the current board members will be in attendance, giving you an opportunity to meet them and hear about the amazing progress the organization has made this year.

Presenters will include:
  • Wendy S. Rubinstein, M.D., Ph.D., Genetics, Evanston Northwestern Healthcare

  • R. Loch Macdonald, M.D., Ph.D., Professor of Neurosurgery, Departments of Surgery and Radiation and Cellular Oncology, Pritzker School of Medicine, University of Chicago Medical Center

  • Kristine Cichowski, Director of the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago's Life Center

  • Tom Rath, Global Practice Leader, The Gallup Organiazation, Washington, D.C.

If you need information on handicapped access to Chicago, Eric Lipp would be happy to speak with you at 773-388-8839. In addition to being on the VHLFA Board of Directors, Eric is the Executive Director of the Open Doors organization, which specializes in handicapped access for travel and recreation. Since he is based in Chicago, he is particularly well versed in accessing Chicago's hotels, restaurants, and entertainments and is eager to make your visit enjoyable.
