A Regional Meeting of the VHL Family Alliance will be held Saturday, May 21, 2005, 10 am - 3 pm. Registration includes lunch.

 

The meeting will be held in Conference Room 16 of the Marriott Rivercenter in San Antonio. This meeting is adjacent to the convention of the American Urologic Association.

11:15 - Genetics and Genomics - Col. J. Michael Lamiell, M.D., Clinical Investigations, U.S. Army

How his team studied the inheritance of VHL, and led us to the finding of the gene. What this means for treating and curing VHL.

1:00 - Studying Kidney Cancer and VHL - Kan Gong, M.D., Urology, First Hospital of Peking University, China

Discussing the research he and his team are doing on VHL, and his work in improving diagnosis, treatment, and quality of life for people with VHL in China.

Dr. McRee will talk about the challenges of living with a chronic illness -- surviving and thriving in the face of stress on the patient and the family
