Free Playback Available:  Update for the Advocacy Community from NCI Director (9/07)
National Cancer Institute

On Wednesday, September 12, 2007, the Director of the National Cancer Institute, Dr. John E. Niederhuber, addressed concerns about the future impact cancer will have on society and advancements that can be expected with NCI’s current budget.  Dr. Niederhuber expressed the importance of increasing access to care and a need for increased research funding.  He also stressed the need for advocates and researchers to speak with “one voice.”  Advocate Doug Ulman, Chair of the NCI’s Director’s Consumer Liaison Group, spoke about the important role advocates play at NCI.  The call concluded with a question and answer session.

Dr. John E. Neiderhuber

Toll-free playback is available through October 12, 2007, by calling 1-866-443-8027.

New Report Indicates Changes in How Americans Get Their Information about Health and Cancer (8/29/07.)
National Cancer Institute

Among a growing number of Americans seeking general health information and information about cancer, the Internet remains a frequent first source, even though the public's trust in online material about health has declined, reports a government study. At the same time, consumers voiced greater confidence in information received from healthcare professionals.
