Website Upgrade!
The Website is taking on a new look and feel!
For the first time since 2002, the VHL Website is undergoing a significant change! We hope you will like the new features.
With help from a grant from the Murray Foundation, your own donations, and with the work of web designer Angela Render, the VHL website is migrating to a new look and feel. You will see the changes implemented steadily over the next month or two.
This is a large site, with more than 5000 files altogether -- a treasury of information about VHL gathered over the past fifteen years. It's not something that can be changed overnight. We are working to keep the information accessible to you during the migration, which means that the look will be somewhat inconsistent for a while. Thank you in advance for your patience as we make changes to serve you better.
This page is a sample of the new look.
Notice the banner at the top of the page. The shape of it is similar to the previous design, done by Tim Nielsen and his design team at TransAmerica Insurance, when we moved to our current logo in 2002. What's different is that these are real people from real VHL families, and a real doctor who heads one of our clinical care centers.
If you roll your mouse over the pictures, you will see that there are now drop-down menus to help you find things more easily. These will replace the horizontal strip menu we have had on the homepage.
In each section, there is a left-hand column with links to the major areas in that section. Since this page is part of the Newsletter section, it has links to each of the fifteen years of back issues, and the Search utility to help you find the topic you need,
On the new newsletter pages we have put the table of contents for the issue on the article pages, so it is easier to navigate through an issue. The January 2008 issue has been implemented first; we will be migrating prior issues over the next month or two.
Any links you may have stored (for example, in your Favorites) may stop working. We have put up a special ERROR 404 page to help you with this. Simply put, the pages will change from .htm extensions to .php extensions. If your link doesn't work, try changing the .htm or .html at the end of the link to .php and it should work. If not, please contact us for assistance.
IF YOU ENCOUNTER AN ERROR, YOU WILL FIND YOURSELF AT THE HOMEPAGE. You can search for the page you want, or contact us and ask. webmaster@vhl.org
You will see more audio and video as we move forward. Recordings from many of our meetings will be made available, and the Powerful Patient radio show programs are available free on demand.
Changes have been made to make the site more accessible for those who are using a text-to-speech reader. If you are having any accessibility issues, we certainly want to hear from you!
We welcome your comments and suggestions for further improvement! Please let us know your thoughts. Write to webmaster@vhl.org or fill out the ContactUs form
Many thanks for your patience as we make improvements to serve you better.
