The Family Alliance makes the short list of accredited charities of the Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance
“Which charity should I support?” is, when
you think about it, a hard question.
The VHL Family Alliance has once again been included in the select group of charities recommended by the Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance.
This company was formed ten years ago through the merger of two
charity review organizations that had nearly a century
of experience in charity review behind them. The Wise Giving Alliance issues 20
standards for charity accountability that include issues like donor
privacy and charity effectiveness. In their ten years they have greatly expanded
the number of charities they review.
Charitable organizations are diverse and complex.
They’re made up of individuals of varying degrees of
competence, dedication and commitment to
accountability. Their funding opportunities and
resources are all over the map. An organization substantially funded by government
grants and fees for service, for example, may be able to
spend much of these funds on program, while an
organization dependent on support from individuals might have to put substantially more of its money into
finding and retaining its donors. (The Family Alliance's fundraising costs were 11% of its contributions this year.)
The VHL Family Alliance is proud to continue on the Wise Giving Alliance's short list of recommended charities. We are there because of the support of you, our VHL community. THANK YOU!
