Cub Scout Hero

Bob Keesler doesn't let kidney cancer keep him from his scout troop.

New Port Richie, Florida, Monday, April 25, 2005

The cub scouts at Sunray Elementary in Pasco County see their leader as an Everyday Hero. Bob Keesler spends countless hours with the boys, preparing for meetings, setting up outings and spending time with them. It's something he says he loves to do because he loves kids.

But Bob also suffers from a form of kidney cancer that requires periodic treatments and testing. That hasn't slowed him down a bit and he says it's the kids that keep him going everyday.

Bob was recently recongnized by the Governor for his volunteer efforts proving that this Cub Scout leader is not only teaching the kids to be good citizens, but leading them by example.
