Clinical Trial - Sutent for VHL

Who is eligible?

A person with a genetically confirmed diagnosis of VHL, with at least one VHL tumor of measurable size (eye, brain, spinal cord, kidney, pancreas, etc.) which does not require surgery at this time.

 

Candidates must be over 18 years old and have creatinine (kidney function) creatinine within one and a half times upper limit of normal (typically a creatinine of 2.2 or less.

 

Participants may not be pregnant or planning a pregnancy, and both men and women will be required to use birth control throughout the study and for some months after going off the drug.

 

This study excludes anyone with metastatic disease. There are other studies open for people with metastatic disease.

 

Logistics:

Participants will go to M.D. Anderson in Houston for two days for initial evaluation. If accepted, they will need to return to Houston for one night stay in a hotel every six weeks. Every 12 weeks there will be a series of CT and MRI studies to track the status of the tumor(s) being watched.

 

Participants will receive the drug free, but there is no assistance available for travel expenses.
