Dr. James Gnarra of the University of Pittsburgh, Director of Research for the VHL Family Alliance, presents a summary of the current state of research on the VHL gene and the protein it encodes.

As we understand more about the important role that the VHL protein plays in the life of a cell, we learn new strategies that might be used to intervene and make a difference.

A number of new drugs have already been developed based on VHL research. These drugs are young and are still evolving toward greater effectiveness and fewer side effects. Stay tuned for more about drug development.
