Sarah Nielsen

Sarah Marie Nielsen graduated this May with a Master’s of Science in Genetic Counseling from the University of Pittsburgh. The focus of her Graduate Student Research in the Department of Endocrine Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center was on inherited endocrine tumor syndromes, with her main focus being VHL. Sarah will present the results of her Master’s thesis, showing the similarities and differences of the medical journeys of 2 large Pennsylvania families who were cared for by the late Dr. Samuel Tisherman at the University of Pittsburgh. This July Sarah will head to Chiang Mai, Thailand to volunteer for 6 months at an orphanage for children and babies with HIV/AIDS.
